Kinja'd!!!

Let's say you're a big hotshot that closes deals and gets stuff done. You're the guy that gets sent to the FUCKING Catalina Wine mixer. You need a nice set of wheels to get you to and from the office. Something fast, something loud, something expensive! You just have to show off all the money you make don't ya?! No no no.....

Let's say you're an introvert. You can't stand all the stares you get driving your Porsche 997 GT3. You love how fun it is to drive and you love taking it to the track, but you feel so uncomfortable when everyone crowds around you at a gas station on your way home from work.

You sell the lightly used 911 GT3 for $110k. What do you buy next?

Me? I'd go for an E63 AMG Wagon. I'd search for a still new 2013 Model, because they look a little less aggressive than the new 2014's. It comes in at $99,645. A definite debadge is in it's future, as are tints to eliminate the fishbowl feeling. To most on the road, it's an E-class wagon with some nice wheels. To me, it's an understated sleeper that I can drive to the office Monday through Friday, a track on Saturday, and to a Car meet whenever I want to interact with some fellow gearheads.

What would you pick?

Step 1: Buy NB Miata
Step 2: LS3 with a supercharger swap
Step 3: pocket cash, maybe spend a bit on a hooker
Step 4: ????
Step 5: profit

Well if you bought a Tesla at least you wouldn't have the crowds at gas station issue...

With 110k, hmmm decisions decisions. I would initially say something old but that will always attract stares and people.

I would build a monster 4th gen camaro. Wicked motor, complete suspension and cage, a nicer set of wheels and tires. Most people other than die hard Chevy/camaros guys will pass right on by untill you fire the car up and in the process of leaving said station.

I love it.

The only problem is these are gaining popularity amongst non car people.

I was going to say RS7, but then I remember that there is a manual available on the M5. So M5 F10.

Audi s8, but I'd have to finance $2,500 over 5 years at 0.9% APR...

You could even go for an E60 M5 if you want 6MT + V10. I try not to pick BMW's as my answer anymore, I'm obviously biased hahaha

You could always go CPO or used.

Yeah, because V10. But an even better deal would be buying a CTS Vsport and using the rest of the money to get a sports car. Probably a Miata.

I was actually thinking if making this a two part question, a DD (like a CTS-V) and a track car (like an E36 M3) but I decided not to

I'd buy the cleanest 2005 E46 325it on the market and proceed to swap in: M3 rear subframe/LSD, supercharged M54, 6-spd tranny, upgraded coilovers, big ole brembo's, M3 fenders front and rear(minus fender grille), throw on some un-suspecting rims that will clear the new brakes and fit 355 rears, and keep the stock badging.

Basically, I'd create a better (relative to my tastes) one of these:

Done right, it would cost about $65,000

You might actually be able to save some money, a few years back at a Chicago VW dealer I saw a E46 wagon with an M3 engine swap, full M3 suspension, and full M3 interior (different back seats) for sale for I think $24k. I forgot how many miles it had though, I think 71k.

I'd say a Chevy SS. Scrap the wheels for something else, and paint it that beautiful blue bmw has. (Monaco blue I think)

I'm very familiar with that one, actually. I was tempted to bid on it when it sold on eBay for $18,500. That was prior to landing at the VW dealership, I think the story was that the dealer bought it for his son?

I liked that that one actually transplanted the whole M3 floor/subframe/suspension, I didn't like that it changed hands twice without ever being 100% sorted - that scared me.

I'm confident I can produce a good one for $30,000. One day...

Yeah I thought the whole story behind it was a little suspicious. I still really wanted it though, if my budget was $2k higher I probably would've flown out to Chicago and bought it haha
